Dancing
Teaching simple dances is an important part of gross motor development for young children. One dance that was a particular favorite of ours was done to the song, "Jimmy Crack Corn". (See music page for more details on the music.) We practiced this song with our friends form the kindergarten class next door.
Fruit Salad Toss Game
Using a parachute, the children toss
the plastic fruits and vegetables up and down, while the running "in
and out" of the parachute. This reinforces these basic directional
concepts.
