Community Helpers : Parent Communications

Newsletter

April 13,1998

Dear Parents,

We hope the children are excited to be back at school. We are looking forward to our new unit this month on Community Helpers. I am especially excited about a study trip planned on Thursday, April 23rd. On this date the buses will meet me at the main Apple Valley Fire Station on Headquarters Road, which is near Hwy.18 and Central Road. The children will be given a tour of the Fire Station and have a chance to view the equipment up close. After our visit the bus will bring the children up to school where I will have special learning activities about fire safety. Attached to this newsletter is a study trip permission slip which will need to be signed and returned. I would like all permission slips returned by the end of this week. This will be a very exciting and educational experience for the children. I hope that all the children will be able to participate.

In the next four weeks we will be setting up all the transition meetings for children leaving our program next year, All the children exiting the program will still be eligible for summer school this summer. Children going to Apple Valley District operated classrooms next year will have transition meetings set up that will include representatives from the district and usually the principal or teacher from the new site as well as therapists if needed. There are many people involved in these meetings that make special arrangements to come together to discuss the best educational program for your child's coming year. My message here is is to please try your best to make your scheduled appointment for this transition meeting. We try to make all the meetings on one day so the all the people involved only have to make one visit and therapists only have to cancel one day of service to their clients. It will be very difficult to reschedule. Thank You.

Just a little reminder that Friday, April 24th is an inservice day. Our staff will be renewing their CPR training that day. We hope all our families had an enjoyable time off with their children. We are looking forward to a great week!
