    Children go fishing and name the color of the fish they hook.

More/Less Fish Game
First student rolls a dice and counts out the appropriate number of fish. Second student uses spinner (purchased through Ablenet) to see if they will count out "more or less" fish than their partner.

Floor Patterns
 For each new unit we copy and cut figures in eleven colors. Each shape is taped to the floor to help the children understand where to line up. We ask them the name of the item, color or it's number when they are excuse to go out to play.

Fish Alphabet Game
Each child has their own Alphabet boards seen below.
For this game we did the following:

•  Put small alphabet letters on felt board backwards.
• Give each child 26 Bingo chips in a tray.
• Take turns
• Each child takes a letter off the felt board and names it.
• All the other children put a Bingo chip on that letter.
• When all the letters are covered we sang the Alphabet Song.

 

Fish Bowl Counting Game
Each child has their own Fishbowl boards and plastic fish seen below.
For this game we did the following:

• Use numbers on a felt board or use AbleNet's "Take-A-Turn" Spinner
• Point to number and ask child "what number?"
• Have all the children put that many fish in their bowl
• If they count correctly children are rewarded with a Goldfish Cracker (We make sure everyone is successful!)
