Farmyard Sunflowers
Materials:
Pre cut crepe paper rectangles
Small paper plates
Sunflower seeds
Pre cut or patterns for green stems & leaves
Children glue seeds in the middle of plate. Glue yellow crepe, tissue or construction paper rectangles around the outside of plate. Cut and glue on green stem and leaves.

Brown center is sponge painted with sunflower seeds glued to center
Stems were rolled green butcher paper (adults did this task)


Sponge Paint Chicks
Materials:
Cut small and large sponge circles
Orange and black construction paper scraps
On white paper, children sponge paint a large circle. Above this circle the children sponge paint a smaller circle. After the paint dries, add eyes, beak and other features with construction paper scraps. Cut out yellow chicks if desired.

Paper Plate Pig Faces
Materials:
Large Paper plates Pink cupcake liners
Pink tempra
Pink construction paper scraps
Wiggly craft eyes (or make construction paper eyes)
This is usually a two day project. Students paint their plates pink and let dry. On the second day, students glue on eyes, pink cupcake liners for noses and cut pink construction paper ears. A mouth can be drawn with a marker.

Cotton Ball Sheep
Materials:
A simple-to-cut sheep pattern (Hint: copy this pattern on heavy paper.)
Cotton balls
Glue
Children practice their cutting skills by cutting out sheep. Color sheep gray if desired. When finished, glue cotton balls to body.

Muddy pigs
Materials:
Cut out pig pattern
paint pigs pink
Brown finger paint
Use fist and brown finger paint to apply the "mud".

Animal Rubbings
Materials:
Animals Rubbing Templates
Thick crayons without paper on the sides
Children love this activity. It is also a great activity to stimulate language skills through casual conversation as children discuss the animals they are drawing.

Finger paint & Feather Ducks
Materials:
Finger paint paper
Yellow finger paint
Yellow or white craft feathers
Construction paper scraps or wiggly craft eyes
This is a two day project. On day one, the children finger paint using yellow finger paint. After drying, draw a simple-to-cut duck pattern on the backside of the painting. Children cut out the duck, glue on feathers and eyes to complete project.

Here's our version of a paper plate chick without the fingerpaint.

Paper Bag Horse Puppets
Materials:
A simple-to-cut large horse head
Small brown paper bags
Water colors or crayons
Children water paint the horse head brown, cut out and glue to the bottom of the paper bag.

Tractor Shape Art
Materials:
Primary colored construction paper
Use pre cut shapes or have children cut out two circle wheels, one rectangle, one square and one triangle for the tractor. Primary colors look best or you can use black for the wheels. This is a great activity to work on the name of shapes and colors! (See pictures.)

Materials:
barn cutout
moon cutout
star stickers
stamps for trees, fence, animals and tractor**

Corn
Materials:
Corn and stalk cutouts
Paint

Children can use their thumbs to dab the corn with Fall colors.


Hand print Turkey
Materials:
Die cut hand prints in various colors
Popsicle sticks for legs
Feathers
Wiggly craft eyes
Triangle construction paper nose
Brown construction paper for body

We used this activity to work with the children on following directions and color recognition.


Clothespin Cow

Materials:
Simple-to-cut cow printout
Two wooden clothespins
Black & white paint
Yarn for tail

Children use black paint and their thumbs to put spots on the cows. They also painted two clothespins white and let them dry.
The next day they cut their cows out and added a tail and their clothespin legs.

Two yellow triangles cut from construction paper for beak
