Desert/Mountain SELPA

The Desert/Mountain Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) is a consortium of twenty-six Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) and the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. The Desert/Mountain SELPA covers the 20,627 square mile region within the area that extends from the mountains to the border of Arizona within San Bernardino County. The purpose of the SELPA is to ensure that quality special education programs and services are available throughout the region to meet the individual needs of special education students.

The SELPA is governed by a Board of Directors, which is made up of the Superintendent/CEO of each participating LEAs within the SELPA region and is chaired by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools.

The SELPA is a support service office. It is the goal of the Desert/Mountain SELPA to facilitate growth and promote success for all learners by providing quality service and support in a professional and timely manner.
