System Solutions

Over 30 Major systems are accessible to all districts in San Bernardino County and Inyo and Mono Counties through BEST NET services.

  1. 33 K-12 Districts
  2. 5 Community Colleges
  3. 3 ROPs
  4. 3 County Office, including Inyo and Mono counties

County "Official Records" systems include but are not limited to:

  1. Payroll, Retirement, Credentials
  2. Personnel, Position Control
  3. Budget, Budget Development, Budget Transfers
  4. The General Ledger
  5. Accounts Payable, Receivable, Billing

All systems are contained on two Hewlett Packard 3000 systems, one housed at the Roy C. Hill Educational Center and one housed at Victor Valley Community College. Districts are split across two systems for load balance, performance, disaster recovery, and redundancy purposes.

  1. These systems support approximately 700 users
  2. Provides disaster and Redundant Recovery Systems
  3. Are available Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  4. Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday all day (Exception - one weekend per month for maintenance - schedule)

BEST NET Systems Maintenance Schedule

New Financial and Human Resource Systems Development

Collective work funded by both BEST NET and CECC member districts has been under way since July 2000 to re-engineer HP3000 Legacy Systems to Internet enabled architecture using Microsoft SQL .Net technology.

Technical specifications for these systems are provided in the document below.

New Development Server Hardware and Software Requirements

All systems currently residing on the HP3000 will be re-engineered by SBCSS/IT staff and are contained, in summary, in the document below.

Summary of Systems to Migrate

Districts are continuously participating in the design, development and installation of these systems. The following documents provide the Goals and Objectives for the development and installation of these systems for the 2003/2004 fiscal year.
