Apple Valley Early Education Facility Something To See

2012-06-07

From its perch high on Nakash Road in Apple Valley, the newly dedicated Apple Valley County Early Education Center offers great views of the High Desert.

It's also a sight to see for providing a variety of early education programs, according to principal Doris Dredd-Lee.

"I am very proud of the new facility , as well as the wonderful staff and the programs we have in place," Dredd-Lee said at the center's dedication ceremony on June 6.

The center, which opened in April, offers programs from the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools for special needs children, as well as a state preschool program and programs from County Schools' Special Education Local Plan Area in the Desert/Mountain Region that serves 15 county school districts.

"We are proud to be able to provide this facility, not just to the community of Apple Valley, but to families throughout the High Desert," San Bernardino County Superintendent Gary Thomas said.

The center, which sits on a 4.7-acre site and has 12 classrooms that can house nearly 150 students, is located at 18415 Nakash Road in Apple Valley. It is the 10th permanent facility built by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools since 2002.

"The new facility really is a team effort to meet the needs of our students," Dredd-Lee said.
