Regional Teachers Of Year For County Schools Recognized

SAN BERNARDINO - Six San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools' regional Teachers of the Year have been selected.

The teachers were recognized by the San Bernardino County Board of Education at its meeting on June 13.

The County Schools' Teachers of the Year are

Deanna Fowler, a special education teacher in the West End region. She has been a teacher for the past 20 years with County Schools, currently teaching deaf and hard of hearing students at Hawthorne Elementary in Ontario. Fowler also has been selected as the County Schools' overall teacher of the year, making her eligible to compete for County Teacher of the Year later this year.

Christopher Hauck, an alternative education teacher. For the past six years, Hauck has taught seventh- and eighth-grade students at Bob Murphy Community Day School in Rialto.

Reina Islas, a special education teacher in the Desert/Mountain region. She has been a County Schools teacher for the past seven years and works at Pinon Hills Elementary in the Snowline Joint Unified School District teaching moderate/severe special education students.

Diana McCann, a State Preschool Services teacher. With 13 years of experience in preschool classrooms, McCann is a lead teacher at Little Eagle State Preschool in Lucerne Valley.

Rhonda Savage, a Regional Occupational Program teacher. For the past 15 years, Savage has overseen a pharmacy technician program in Rialto. She has worked with Kaiser Permanente, Target and Walgreens to provide students with internships to give them real-world applications to their learning.

Cheri Stewart, a special education teacher representing the East Valley region. With more than 25 years of experience in the classroom, Stewart teaches moderate handicapped students at Yucaipa High School.
