Smaller Learning Communities Schools To Hold End-Of-Grant Event

2011-05-13

SAN BERNARDINO - The Center for the Advancement of Smaller Learning Communities (CASLE) will hold an end-of-the-grant celebration on May 19 for a five-year federally funded program overseeing high school reform efforts for 10 Inland Empire schools.

The event will be held at Etiwanda Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga (7576 Etiwanda Ave.) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

San Bernardino County Superintendent Gary Thomas will give the keynote address at the event in the morning.

The 10 participating high schools in the grant are Arroyo Valley, Barstow, Bloomington, Cajon, Chaffey, Don Lugo, Fontana, A.B. Miller, Palm Springs and Redlands. CASLE, which is a department in the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, is the umbrella organization that provided leadership, support and oversight of the Smaller Learning Communities program as a region-wide approach to high school reform.

At the celebration, data will be shared about the outcomes of the programs that were held at each of the schools. The public is not invited to attend the event, but media members who wish to report about the program are welcome.

For more information about the event, contact Kathleen Steele, coordinator of CASLE, at (909) 386-2946.
