County Board Names 2 New School Sites

2011-03-07

SAN BERNARDINO - The San Bernardino County Board of Education voted unanimously to name two new school sites at its meeting on March 7.

The Board selected to name the schools the Apple Valley County Early Education Center and the Tri-City County Community Day School.

"We hope these new facilities will have a positive impact on the student populations in the regions that will be served," County Superintendent Gary Thomas said. "Having stable and functional educational facilities should provide the opportunities for academic success to our future students."

The Apple Valley County Early Education Center, located at 18415 Nakash Road in Apple Valley, will serve preschool-aged children in the High Desert.

Tri-City County Community Day School, located at 244 S. D St. in San Bernardino, will serve students who have been referred or expelled by school districts in the East Valley region.

The two new sites become the ninth and 10th permanent sites built for County Schools students since 2002. Both schools are under construction and expected to open for students for the 2011-12 academic year.
