Nominations Being Accepted For Distinguished Service Award

SAN BERNARDINO - Nominations are now being accepted for the San Bernardino County Distinguished Service Award. The deadline for entries is Feb. 18.

The Distinguished Service Award, which was established in 1998, recognizes individuals for exceptional leadership and significant contributions to public education in the county.

Criteria for nominations should focus how individuals have improved the quality of education in the county, and through their efforts, a positive, on-going impact on significant segments of public education have been made within a school district or throughout the county or region.

Nomination forms for the award are distributed to all school districts in San Bernardino County, as well as through the 5th District PTA. In addition, forms are available in the reception area of the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office at 601 N. E St. in San Bernardino. The nomination forms also can be downloaded from the County Schools' website at www.sbcss.k12.ca.us/superint/super_distServ.php

Entries need to be returned to the County Schools office, and the deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 18.

Completed nominations received by the deadline will be forwarded to a five-member judging panel, which representatives from the County School Boards Association, County Committee on School District Organization and 5th District PTA.

Award recipients will be recognized at a ceremony during the April 25 spring meeting of the San Bernardino County School Boards Association.
