County Board To Interview Trustee Candidates

SAN BERNARDINO - The San Bernardino County Board of Education will interview 12 candidates to fill a vacancy on the County Board at a special meeting on Jan. 21.

The vacant board seat represents Trustee Area C, which includes the districts of Chino Valley Unified, Cucamonga, Fontana Unified, Mountain View and a portion of Chaffey Joint Union High (within the Cucamonga and Mountain View school district boundaries). It was vacated by former Board member S. Michael Tahan, who became a city councilman in Fontana.

Following the interviews, which are scheduled to be held during 20-minute sessions from 12:30-5:25 p.m., the Board is scheduled to vote to make a provisional appointment to the vacant position. The special meeting will be held at the Roy C Hill Education Center, 601 N. E St. in San Bernardino. To be eligible for appointment, applicants must be registered voters residing within Trustee Area C and had to apply for the position by Jan. 3.

The following individuals are scheduled for interviews with the County Board for the vacant trustee position: Glenn Alsdorf; Roberto Casas; Robert Deao Sr.; Stephen DeMarco; Irene Hernandez-Blair; John Johnson Jr.; Lisa Keltner; Laura Mancha; Keith McCarter; John Pruitt Jr.; Jesus Sandoval Sr.; and Linda Sargent.
