Third Annual Counselor Conclave Scheduled For Nov. 18

SAN BERNARDINO - More than 250 counselors and career guidance technicians are expected to attend the third annual Counselor Conclave, an invitation only event, on Nov. 18. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore two- and four-year degree programs and information in reference to industry skill certificates needed for careers in the science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) and health fields.

Through career technical education (CTE) and regional occupational programs (ROP), the relevance of education is linked to the real world of business and these related fields.

The event will feature nationally renowned education speaker John Antonetti, who will address the conference's theme of "Guiding Students Toward Careers For Tomorrow." Antonetti is known as a "teacher's teacher." He has assisted many districts with professional development activities including systemic writing programs and on-site work with a focus on student engagement, rigor, relevance, and high-yield best practices.

Antonetti advocates increased student learning by solving real world problems in safe and cooperative environments. He will address strategies for counselors and career technicians to engage students in career exploration, with an emphasis on helping them succeed.
