County Board To Recognize Teachers For Tomorrow Recipients

2010-09-24

SAN BERNARDINO - Two San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools' paraeducators have been selected to participate in the Teachers for Tomorrow program. The duo will be recognized by the County Board of Education at its Oct. 4 meeting.

Teachers for Tomorrow provides financial assistance to County Schools' paraeducators who pursue their bachelor's degrees and teaching credentials. Selection of the participants is based on candidates' applications, letters of recommendation and an interview by a California School Employees Association representative and county administrators.

Since 1997, more than 30 participants in the Teachers for Tomorrow program have finished their education programs and been hired as teachers by County Schools.

The paraeducators selected for the program this year are:

Carmen Palacios, who works at First Street Community Day School in Victorville. She plans to work for her degree at the University of LaVerne in alternative education.

Corinthia Williams, who also works at First Street Community Day School. She is pursuing her bachelor's degree in alternative education from the University of Redlands.
