Etiwanda's Grapeland Elementary Kicks Off Reading Buddies Program

ETIWANDA - The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, in partnership with the Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce and the Etiwanda School District, will kick off Reading Buddies at Grapeland Elementary on Sept. 24 at 8:45 a.m. The volunteer reading program calls on business, civic, community and education leaders to read to students once a month.

Grapeland Principal Jeff Sipos, community leaders and city officials will lead a group of volunteers into classrooms of kindergarten, first- and second-graders to read a book at this school site.

The Grapeland Elementary program will kick off with an assembly, refreshments and reading in the classrooms. Future Reading Buddies dates for the school are Oct. 22, Dec. 10, Jan. 21, Feb. 25, March 10 and April 22, which culminates with a final celebration. All future reading events begin at 9 a.m.
