2010-07-16

SAN BERNARDINO - Thirty-two schools districts in San Bernardino County, as well as the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and three charter schools, were awarded $1.85 million in federal technology education grants, the California Department of Education announced today.

The funding is part of the Enhancing Education Through Technology program through the U.S. Department of Education and is for schools and districts that receive Title I, Part A funding.

"This funding should help our teachers provide more of the high-tech resources our students need in order to help them achieve in the classroom," County Superintendent Gary Thomas said.

San Bernardino City Unified School District, which was awarded $547,595, received the largest amount among county local education agencies. Districts in Fontana ($202,540), Ontario-Montclair ($163,461), Rialto ($154,033) and Colton ($107,111) received the next highest amounts.

A complete list of the 1,062 local education agencies statewide, including those in the county, is available on the California Department of Education website at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r5/eettfa09result.asp
