Teachers Of Year For County Schools To Be Honored

SAN BERNARDINO - Six San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools' regional Teachers of the Year will be honored by the County Board of Education at its meeting on June 14.

The recognitions will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the County Schools' Desert/Mountain Educational Service Center, 17800 Highway 18 in Apple Valley.
The County Schools' Teachers of the Year who will be honored include:

Melissa Coronado, special education teacher in the West End Region. For the past eight years, she has taught special education students for County Schools. She teaches moderate/severe students at the Carnelian School in Alta Loma.

Karen Inge, special education teacher in the East Valley Region. She teaches at Redlands East Valley High School and has been with County Schools for 23 years, including more than 11 years as a paraeducator.

Solveig Kruse of the Regional Occupational Program. Kruse, an entreprenuership class teacher, has been with the County Schools' ROP since 2005 as an instructor at Barstow High School.

Joan O'Lear of State Preschool Services. As a preschool teacher with County Schools since 2002, O'Lear works at Walnut State Preschool.

Donald Stark, special education teacher in the Desert/Mountain Region. Starting out as a paraeducator, Stark has been a special education teacher for the past four years and works with mild/moderate at-risk students at Columbia Middle School in Adelanto.

Philip Turner in Alternative Education. Turner has taught building skills classes and auto shop at Bob Murphy County Community Day School for the past 10 years.

One of the six teachers also will be chosen as the County Schools' Teacher of the Year, which would allow her or him to compete for the countywide Teacher of the Year later this summer.
