Teachers For Tomorrow Recipients To Be Recognized

2009-09-04

SAN BERNARDINO - Four San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools' paraeducators have been selected to participate in the Teachers for Tomorrow program. The quartet will be recognized by the County Board of Education at an upcoming meeting.

Teachers for Tomorrow provides financial assistance to County Schools' paraeducators who pursue their bachelor's degrees and teaching credentials. Selection of the participants is based on candidates' applications, letters of recommendation and an interview by a California School Employees Association representative and county administrators.

Since 1997, more than two dozen participants in the Teachers for Tomorrow program have finished their education programs and been hired as teachers by County Schools.

The paraeducators selected for the program this year are:

Corinne Ary, who works with preschool students in special education at Siegrist School in Hesperia. She plans to work for her degree in communicative disorders.

Salina Lam, who works with preschool students at Siegrist in language development. She is pursuing her bachelor's degree from Azusa Pacific University.

Crystal Lewis, who works as a childcare worker at Sycamore Rocks Elementary in Apple Valley. She plans on attending Azusa Pacific University to pursue her bachelor's degree.

Charlotte Ramirez, who works with special needs students at Mesa Grande Elementary in Hesperia. She plans to attend Chapman University to pursue her bachelor's degree.
