ROP Students Win Second Place in Multimedia Challenge

2005-03-31

GLENDORA – San Bernardino County Regional Occupational Program students Diana Cansino, Amber Ibarra, Everly Dickerson and Amy Perry were recognized on March 24 for finishing in second place at the 2004 K&N Filters High School Multimedia Challenge that was part of the National Hot Rod Association’s annual event. The four students attend an audio visual class with teacher Jim Hall at Victor Valley High School.

K&N Engineering, Inc. presented the Multimedia Challenge competition during the 16th Annual NHRA Career Opportunities Fair presented by the U.S. Army at the Pomona Raceway in November. Students who entered the contest recorded the day’s events on video or film. K&N Engineering awarded prizes for the top three entries in the video, color photo, and black and white photo categories. More than 140 students registered for the competition.

The NHRA Career Opportunities Fair presented by the U.S. Army hosted about 4,500 students and teachers from ROP programs from seven counties in Southern California. They were invited to the racetrack to learn about the various careers in the motorsports industry, as well as educational and training opportunities. The event featured professional drivers, well-known racing personalities, exhibition runs and an extensive career midway.

The NHRA's Youth and Education Services program presented by the U.S. Army is motorsports' first and only full-time program devoted exclusively to educational programming. The program was created in 1989 as a tool to connect education and drag racing. For more information, contact NHRA Youth and Education Services at (626) 250-2208.
