Curtis Elementary To Hold Recognition Ceremony For Reading Buddies

RIALTO - Sam V. Curtis Elementary School will hold a closing and recognition ceremony for its Reading Buddies volunteers on May 29 at 8 a.m.

Principal Karen Elias, County Superintendent Gary Thomas and other community officials will lead the closing ceremonies to acknowledge the volunteers' efforts throughout the year with special recognition and presentations by classrooms.

The Reading Buddies literacy program, which is active in seven districts in the county, allows business professionals and community members to impress the importance of reading by adopting a class and reading to its students once a month. Curtis' program is a collaborative effort by the Rialto School District, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, the City of Rialto and the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools.
