California League of High School Award Winners To Be Recognized Dec. 3

SAN BERNARDINO - Twenty outstanding educators, including superintendents, administrators, counselors and teachers, will be recognized at the California League of High Schools Region 10 Awards Banquet to be held at the Riverside Marriott on Dec. 3.

The Educator of the Year Award for Region 10 that includes Riverside, Inyo, Mono and San Bernardino counties will be bestowed upon one of the 10 teacher honorees. The regional Educator for the Year will then compete for the prestigious California League of High Schools State Educator of the Year Award, which will be announced in January.

The California League of High Schools awards will recognize 11 other educators representing eleven regions throughout California, who exemplify educational excellence and have made significant efforts to implement elements of educational reform in high schools.

The following educators have been nominated and will be recognized:

Tina Barhorst, teacher, Montclair High, Chaffey Joint Unified;

Sharon Barton, teacher, Victor Valley High, Victor Valley Union High School District;

Jim Canter, assistant superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Snowline Joint Unified;

Lusandra Cantres, counselor, Victor Valley High, Victor Valley Union High School District;

Norma Clauson, teacher, Cajon High, San Bernardino City Unified;

Linda Cooper, teacher, San Bernardino City Unified;

Clifford Corigliano Sr., teacher, San Bernardino High, San Bernardino City Unified;

Kevin Griswold, teacher, Silverado High School, Victor Valley Union High School District;

Robin Grundmeyer, teacher, Norco High, Corona-Norco Unified;

Linda Hanford, teacher, Chaffey High, Chaffey Joint Unified;

Edmond Heatley, superintendent, Chino Valley Unified;

Edna Herring-Davis, superintendent, Rialto Unified;

Jeff Kingsberg, teacher, Chaparral High School, Temecula Valley Unified;

Gloria McGee, director of Career and Technical Education, Victor Valley Union High School District;

Jody Oliver, project specialist for California Technology Assistance Project, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools;

Donna Parker, teacher, West Valley High, Hemet Unified;

Stephanie Phillips, deputy superintendent, Chino Valley Unified;

Cari Strange, teacher, Temescal Canyon High, Lake Elsinore Unified;

Kathleen Steele, coordinator of Secondary Education and the Center for the Advancement of Smaller Learning Communities, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools;

Gary Thomas, San Bernardino County superintendent;

Joseph Williams, teacher, Paloma Valley High, Perris Unified;

Kenn Young, Riverside County superintendent.

Duneen DeBruhl, the assistant superintendent of Educational Services and Human Resources for the Victor Valley Union High School District, is the trustee for Region 10 for the California League of High Schools.
