Reading Buddies Kicks Off At Grant Elementary In Colton

COLTON - The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, in partnership with the Colton Joint Unified School District and the Colton Chamber of Commerce, will kick off the fourth annual Reading Buddies program at Ulysses S. Grant Elementary on Oct. 15. The volunteer reading program calls on business, civic, community and education leaders to commit to reading to students once a month.

Education and city officials will lead a group of volunteers into classrooms of kindergarten through six-graders to read a book.

The public-private partnership supported by local chambers, service organizations and other businesses has been created and expanded countywide to include East Valley, West End and High Desert school districts - including Colton, Chino Valley, Central, Etiwanda, Ontario-Montclair, Rialto, San Bernardino City and Victor Elementary.

The Grant Elementary program will kick off at 8 a.m. Grant Elementary is located at 550 W. Olive Street in Colton. Future Reading Buddies dates for Grant are Nov. 12, Jan. 21, Feb. 18, March 15 and April 15. All future reading events will begin at 8:30 a.m.
