Eight County Schools Earn Title I Academic Achievement Awards

SAN BERNARDINO – Eight San Bernardino County schools were named 2004-05 Title I Academic Achievement Award winners today, announced Jack O’Connell, state superintendent of public instruction.

The eight county schools and their districts are:

The Ontario Center, Cucamonga Elementary School District;

Oak Park Elementary, Fontana Unified School District;

Juniper Elementary, Hesperia Unified School District;

Kimberly Elementary, Redlands Unified School District;

Palm Avenue Elementary and Richardson Prep High Middle, San Bernardino City Unified School District;

Upland Elementary and Upland Junior High, Upland Unified School District.

“I am proud of the eight schools from San Bernardino County who have earned the Title I Academic Achievement Award,” said Herbert Fischer, superintendent of San Bernardino County. “These schools’ high-quality educational programs are a credit to students, staff, teachers, administrators and district leadership.’’

Statewide, there were 248 schools who received the recognition out of 5,840 Title I schools in California. Title I is one of the programs under the federal No Child Left Behind Act designed to improve the academic achievement of disadvantaged students.
