Inland Empire ROP Competition Set for May 10

SAN BERNARDINO – Fifteen students from the San Bernardino County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) will test their skills in the California Association of Regional Occupational Centers and Programs Inland Empire Chapter competition on May 10 at the San Bernardino Elks Lodge.

This competition will place San Bernardino County ROP’s best students against the winners of the three other ROPs in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.

The San Bernardino County ROP winners by occupational cluster, school and their ROP course are:

Agriculture: Laura McGinnis, Lucerne Valley High, landscape maintenance;

Arts/Media/Communications: Benjamin Gadomski, Rim of the World, printing and graphic arts; and Adam Mackall, Hesperia High, digital design;

Health Occupations: Shannon Petrillo, Hesperia Alternative Educational Center, dental assistant; and Reginald Soriano, Rialto Alternate Education Center, pharmacy technician;

Home Economics: Laura De Luca, Cajon High, child care; and Alfonso Vasquez, Apple Valley High, restaurant occupations;

Industrial Technology/Transportation: Jennifer Christian, Apple Valley, auto specialist; and Kendall Sokolowski, Eisenhower High, collision repair;

Marketing/Sales and Service: Evelin Carmona, Rialto High, sales and merchandising; and Ruth Vega, Twentynine Palms High, sales and merchandising;

Information/Office Technology: Ashley Kenaga, Rim of the World High, office operations; and Natalie Alonso, Silverado High, office operations;

Public Service/Service Occupations: Ranay Rich, Hesperia Alternative Center, cosmetology; and Richaun Tremble, Rialto High, diversified occupations.

“We are proud of every ROP student nominated by their teachers for this competition,” said Mark Lyons, director of the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools’ (SBCSS) ROP. “Being recognized as an outstanding student out of 16,000 students in our programs is a high compliment to the student. The same qualities that have given them this recognition will also give them future success.”
