County Board VP Honored for Outstanding Service

SAN BERNARDINO ñ Dr. David O. Stine, vice president of the San Bernardino County Board of Education, was honored by the California Association of Professors of Educational Administration (CAPEA) for outstanding service to schools and students at the groupís spring meeting in Los Gatos on March 12.

Stine, who has been a county Board member since 1989, was recognized for his work as an accrediting commissioner for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), as well as his leadership with the California School Boards Association (CSBA) and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing(CCTC).

In his 16 years on the County Board of Education, Stine has served as president for three one-year terms, and he is currently serving his third one-year term as a vice president. He also has served 10 years on the County School Boards Association and 14 years with the California County School Boards Association.

CAPEA has a membership of 100 and represents 35 independent/private and public colleges and universities in California.

Stine spent 29 years as a teacher, principal and administrator in public education. He also was a professor of education for 15 years at California State University, San Bernardino.

He also is a past president and treasurer of CAPEA.
