Medi-Cal Administrative Activities

The Medi-Cal Administrative (MAA) Activities Program is a federally funded program, administered by the State Department of Health Services, that allows school districts to be reimbursed for some of their administrative costs associated with school-based health and outreach activities that cannot be claimed under the LEA Medi-Cal Billing Program.

LEA Data Match Record Layout

As of June 1, 2005, the LEA Data Match record layout will include the 14-digit BIC-ID number. EDS will require this number on incoming claims beginning late spring. The Data Match Record may be downloaded below. Note: The Data Match Record Layout was updated on 5/20/2005 to correct the label of the first field.

LEA Provider Letter (June 23, 2004)

State Plan Amendment (SPA) 03-024 Approval

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved SPA 03-024, which adds IEP/IFSP assessments, clarifies provider qualifications for assessment and treatment services provided by LEAs, and describes the reimbursement methodology for these services. Other Health Coverage (OHC) Survey (As of June 1, 2004):

DHS conducted the OHC Survey to obtain information about the scope of benefits provided by insurance carriers for services rendered by LEAs. The results of the OHC Survey may assist LEAs in documenting non-coverage of services. The OHC Survey schedules and instructions may be downloaded below.

LEA Ad Hoc Workgroup Meeting Summary (May 4, 2005):

Participants in the LEA Ad Hoc Workgroup represent large, medium, and small school districts, county offices of education, professional organizations representing LEA services, DHS, and the State Department of Education. Meetings are held every other month and provide a forum for LEAs to identify relevant issues and make recommendations to improve the LEA Program.
